What you have to pay attention at a wedding in Austria?
If the period of time between the reservation and the wedding exceeds 6 months, the reservation will be prolonged. It is then valid for two weeks, as from the point of time which can be seen as “6 months before the wedding”. Within those two weeks you should make your wedding registration by bringing along all the necessary documents in order to fix your reservation. We will help you with all documents and other legal inquires.

Where can you get married?
The location is optional. So who wants get married on the romantic ceremony on the lake or get married in a registry office.
Residency requirements
None, however it takes approximately 3 to 6 weeks to sort out the paperwork.
How to get a marriage licence?
You must bring the papers mentioned below in person to the Standesamt Office where you wish to marry. Only a civil ceremony is recognised by Austrian law. The ceremony will be conducted in German so you may need an interpreter.
Legal papers to take:
- Full birth certificates
- Ten year passports
- Proof of domicile (e.g. driving licence, tax bill)
- Sworn affidavit stating that you are free to marry
If you have been divorced then the final divorce papers and your former marriage certificate must be shown. Please note: if you were previously married outside of your home country or if you and your former spouse’s nationalities were different then you may need permission from the Austrian Ministry of Justice which will take time.
If you are widowed then the death certificate of your previous spouse must be shown.
All documents must be certified with an apostille stamp and translated into German by an official translator.
